Performing arts
During this holiday season, remember the significance of the performing arts in our festive tradition. Listen to carolers, watch the Nutcracker at the ballet or see A Christmas Carol at the theater. Also, don’t forget the performances that students have at our very own school.
Although we do not have an Arts page in this issue, the Hercules High School students are just as active as ever.
The theater department’s striking rendition of The Laramie Project sold out its final night and received glowing reviews. They are now preparing for the spring musical, Zombie Prom, which will also feature live musicians from the school.
Dec. 11 was the orchestra and choir concert, followed by the HMHS symphonic and jazz bands performance the next night. Keeping with the holidays, they played songs of the seasons, such as “Carol of the Bells” and “Russian Sleigh Ride.”
In December, the school’s dance department performed The Wonderful World of Dance. This was the second joint venture between both middle and high school students.
The HMHS dancers, actors and musicians closed 2007 with some terrific performances. When 2008 comes along, expect them to return with increasingly noteworthy productions.
